An MS angle is a hot-rolled mild steel section bent to 90°, giving two legs that meet at a corner. That corner is the whole point: it resists bending in two planes at once, which is why an angle carries load where a flat bar of the same weight would simply flex.
Angles come as equal, with both legs the same, and unequal. Indian sections are written as ISA followed by the leg sizes and the thickness — ISA 50×50×6 is a 50 mm equal angle 6 mm thick. Weight per metre is read from the standard section tables rather than a formula, because the rolled root radius adds metal that the simple maths misses.
