What an MS round bar is, and the one formula worth knowing
An MS round bar is solid mild steel of circular cross-section, hot rolled and supplied in straight lengths. Unlike a TMT bar it has no ribs and is not made for reinforcing concrete — it is stock material, bought to be cut, turned, forged, bent or welded into something else.
Weight follows a single approximation the whole trade uses: diameter squared divided by 162 gives kilograms per metre, with the diameter in millimetres.
