What an MS channel is, and where it earns its place
An MS channel is a hot-rolled section shaped like a squared-off C: a vertical web with two flanges turned out at right angles from its top and bottom edges. Almost all of its stiffness sits in the depth of that web, which is why a channel carries load along its length far better than across it.
Indian channels are designated ISMC followed by the depth in millimetres — ISMC 75, ISMC 100, ISMC 150, ISMC 200. Depth is the number that governs the section; two channels of the same depth can still differ in flange width and weight per metre. Those figures are read from the standard section tables rather than calculated. Give us the designation from your drawing and we will confirm what can be arranged.
